Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both sugars until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, stirring until just combined, then add the vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mix to the butter-egg mixture, stirring until no streaks of flour remain.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
  • Press the dough evenly into the greased pie dish.

Baking

  • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, until edges are golden and center is slightly soft.

Cooling & Decorating

  • Let the pie cool in the dish for at least 15–20 minutes before decorating.
  • Sprinkle on the decorations just before serving.
